Sioux Falls, S.D. – The Minnesota State women's basketball team beat Augustana on Saturday evening by the score of 74-71.
With the win, the Mavericks record falls to 10-4 overall and 7-2 in conference play.
Both teams in the first half traded baskets for about the first 10 minutes as the game was all tied up at 16-16, at the 9:29 mark. For the next seven minutes, Augustana would go on a 18-2 run to make the score 34-18 over the Mavericks. However, MSU would cut into a bit of Augie's lead as MSU ended the first half on a 11-2 run themselves, to make the score at halftime 36-29.
In the first half the Mavericks committed 15 turnovers that equated to 11 Vikings points. MSU outrebounded Augie 23-19 and shot 35.7% from the field compared to the Vikings 36.4% from the field.

Lexie Ulfers and sophomore guard
Britney Scherber led the Mavericks in scoring at the break, as each one posted seven points. Ulfers also added four rebounds and three blocks, while Scherber recorded three rebounds of her own.
Coming out of the break, the Mavericks came storming back as they were able to tie the game up at 49-49 with 14:26 left in the second half. The Mavericks would quickly take the lead, 52-49, off a three-point basket from senior guard
Ashley Olson.
MSU would hold strong the rest of the game as they held on to the lead, with a slim margin. The Mavericks shot 55.6% from the field in the second half and assisted on 12 of the 15 MSU made baskets. The Purple and Gold also outrebounded the Vikings on the glass in the second half, 26-17, which resulted in seven more second chance points for MSU than Augie, 8-1.
Ulfers continued to help lead MSU in the second half, as she posted another 11 points, four rebounds and three blocks. Sophomore guard
Sammie Delzotto wasn't too far behind, as she tallied 10 points, three rebounds and three assists in the second half.
Overall MSU racked up 49 boards and 17 assists compared to Augie's 36 rebounds and nine assists.

Individually, Ulfers posted team-highs of 18 points and a career-high six blocks, to go along with her eight rebounds, while Delzotto recorded 14 points, five rebounds and four assists. Scherber and senior forward
Jamie Bresnahan each added 10 points, as Bresnahan also posted a team-high of nine rebounds, while Scherber accumulated four boards and two steals.
Next weekend, the Mavericks will continue to be on the road as they will travel to Bemidji State on Friday. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
