It took two scoreless innings of softball, before the Mavericks found their way onto the scoreboard. Sophomore Tatum Klein reached on an error before an RBI double off the bat of senior Kelly Wood gave MSU a 1-0 lead heading into the bottom of the third inning.

Freshman Coley Ries found herself in a bit of a jam in the bottom of the third inning with the bases loaded and two outs. The Mavericks were able to tighten their defense and hold the Warriors scoreless in the bottom of the third.

The Warriors knotted things up at 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning by way of a solo home run from Jessica Kullmann.

WSU was able to capture the win in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the eighth inning as Ashley Walker scored the game's winning run off the bat of Allyson O'Herron to claim the 2-1 victory.

Winona State responded with five runs on five hits in the bottom of the third inning pushing its lead to 10-1 heading into the fourth inning.

In a last ditch effort to extend the game, the Mavericks posted one run in the top of the fifth inning as senior Lindsay Erickson made her way across the dish with the RBI credited to freshman Ashley Thell, but it was not enough as  MSU fell to WSU 10-2 in five innings.

Junior Brittany Lauterbach saw four innings of work surrendering 10 earned runs on 12 hits with four strikeouts and no walks.
