BISMARCK, N.D. --- The Minnesota State women's tennis team was swept by the Augustana Vikings Saturday, as it fell 9-0 in dual action.

With the loss, MSU falls to 2-6 on the season, including a 1-3 mark in NSIC play. With the win, Augustana improves to 4-0 on the season and including a 3-0 in league action.

The Mavericks began the day with three losses in doubles action. The pairing of junior Shealyn Bakke and senior Alexis Ronney fell 8-3 in the No. 2 doubles match, while sophomore Alexis Haakedahl and freshman Abby Schmidt dropped an 8-1 decision in the third doubles match.

Augustana completed the sweep as it won five of the singles matches in straight sets. The No. 6 singles match went to Augustana by default as the Mavericks did have a player compete in the match.

Sophomore Sarah McCann and Haakdahl fell in the No. 2 and No. 3 singles matches, respectively, as they fell by the scores of 6-2, 6-0. Freshman Melissa Mashburn dropped the No. 1 singles match 6-0, 4-1, while Ronney fell in the No. 4 singles match 6-1, 6-1. Schmidt dropped the fifth singles match by the scores of 6-0, 6-0.

The Mavericks wrap up their road trip Sunday as they take on Minnesota Crookston in Grand Forks, N.D., at 8 a.m.
