Mankato, Minn.---Junior
Nathan Hancock bested his own school record of 5,321 in the heptathlon by 50 points en-route to winning the championship at the MSU Multi and Open on Saturday. His total points of 5,371 provisionally qualifies him for the Division II Championships and is second-best in all of Division II.

Hancock placed first in both the 60-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 8.53 and the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:50.97. That time in the 1,000-meter run is second best in all of Division II. He placed second in the pole vault vaulting 13' 9.25".

What was even more impressive was senior
Chris Reed breaking the Division II indoor record in the shot put again. On his last throw Reed threw it 65' 10.25" besting his own record of 65' 5.5" he had last weekend at the Jack Johnson Classic. That throw currently is the fifth-best throw for all divisions. Freshman
Bryan Caffin finished in fifth-place with a throw of 48' 8".

Benjamin Ojika placed fourth overall in the heptathlon with 4,284 total points. He placed second in the 60-meter hurdles finishing with a time 8.67. He finished in ninth place in both the pole vault (8' 10.25") and 1,000-meter run (3:09.65).

Myles Hunter provisionally qualified in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.05 which ranks him sixth out of all Division II athletes. Senior
Slater Powell finished in third place crossing the finish line with a time of 8.22. In the 200-meter dash senior
Carmono Lane finished in third place with a time of 22.18 and junior
Anthony Gustafson placed fifth with a time of 22.22.

In the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash senior
Jerrell Hancock ran a personal-best time of 6.77 ranking him third in the nation for Division II. Hancock sat out the finals but fellow senior
Carmono Lane finished in third-place tying his personal-best time of 6.92. Hancock provisionally qualified in the 400-meter dash running a time of 49.09. That time puts him on top of the NSIC and is seventh-best mark in all of Division II.

Matthew Stocker and senior
Jacob Bastyr each ran personal bests in the mile run with Stocker finishing in first place (4:18.63) and Bastyr placing fifth (4:26.74). Sophomore's Alex Lugo and Zach Gearman placed first and third with times of 1:22.88 and 1:23.37 respectively.

Taking the top spot for the Purple and Gold in the 800-meter run was junior
Alexander Schoneberger finishing in fourth-place with a personal-best time of 1:55.46

The Mavericks took the top two spots in the high jump as senior
Keyvan Rudd cleared 6' 11" taking first-place while freshman
Frand Veldman finished behind him leaping 6' 6.75". Senior
Randy Khieu currently ranks fifth in the NSIC in the long jump as he leaped 22' 2.25" placing him fourth. Freshman
Jason Millet finished in fourth place leaping 21' 4.75".

Khalil Jor'dan and senior
David Pearcill placed second and third with jumps of 47' 7" and 46' 8.25" respectively.

In the last event of the day the 4x400-meter relay team consisting of sophomore
Zach Gearman, sophomore
Alex Lugo, sophomore
Justin McMurtry, and Schoneberger took third place with a time of 3:25.19.
