Mankato, Minn. – The Minnesota State volleyball team swept Minot State on "Senior Day" by the scores of 25-21, 29-27 and 25-21.
With the win, the Mavericks record improves to 16-9 overall and 12-6 in the conference.
In the first set, the Mavericks were down early to the Beavers 10-5 before MSU went on a 7-0 run to make the score 12-10. Throughout the rest of the set the Mavericks sustained their lead as they took the first set over the Beavers, 25-21. Leading the Maverick offense was senior outside hitter

Ellie Van De Steeg recorded 13 assists in the first set.
In set two, it was a close one between MSU and MISU as it was all tied 20-20 late in the set. The Mavericks were able to build a 24-21 advantage over the Beavers before MISU fought back to tie the set at 24-24. In the end the Purple and Gold battled back to take the second set over the Beavers, 29-27. Honebrink added another seven kills to her stat sheet, with McNallan and Powell each tallied five kills in the set. Sophomore middle blocker
Krista Hassing also recorded four kills, as Van De Steeg pitched in with 20 assists in the second set.
In the third and final set, Minnesota State and Minot State were all tied at 6-6, until the Mavericks took control in the set as they went on a 4-0 run to make the score 10-6. MSU went on to win the set and match over MISU, 25-21. McNallan posted another four kills, as Hassing and Powell each contributed three kills in the set.
Pacing the MSU offense was a herd of Mavericks as four players had at least eight kills in the match. Leading the way was Honebrink as the Waconia, Minn. native, posted 13 kills to go along with her 15 digs in the match. Not too far behind was McNallan as the senior tallied 12 kills and a .524 attack percentage. Powell also recorded 12 kills in the match, while Hassing added eight kills of her own. Haley Fogarty led the Mavericks with 17 digs.
The next time the Mavericks hit the court will be on the road at Northern State on Friday. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
