Mankato, Minn. – The Minnesota State volleyball team swept Bemidji State on Saturday night 3-0, by the scores of 25-14, 25-15, 25-22.

Ellie Van De Steeg had a record setting night as she tallied her 3,000 career assist. In doing so, she became the sixth member to join the MSU 3,000 assist club.
With the win, the Mavericks record improves to 10-5 overall and 6-2 in the conference.
In set one, it was the Mavericks building a 13-7 lead over the Beavers before MSU ran away with the set, 25-14. Sophomore middle blocker

Sydney Powell each tallied three kills in the set.
The Mavericks in set two were all square with the Beavers at 9-9 until the Purple and Gold went on a little 5-1 run to make the score 15-10. Minnesota State was able to take the set 25-15 after another strong performance from Hassing as she added another six kills to her stat sheet. Honebrink and Powell had another five and three kills, respectively, while Van De Steeg recorded another 16 assists.
In the third and final set, MSU and BSU fought point for point as the set was tied at 18-18 before the Mavericks were able to go on another 4-1 run to make the set 22-19. In the end, Minnesota State was able to hold on to take the set and match at 25-22. Once again it was Hassing and Honebrink leading the way as each one recorded five kills in the set as Van De Steeg posted 11 helpers.
For the match, Hassing led all Mavericks with 16 kills to go along with four total blocks on the night. Honebrink wasn't far behind as she pitched in with 13 kills of her own as Powell added seven kills and seven digs to her stat sheet. On her record setting night, Van De Steeg totaled 39 assists and six digs for the match. Defensively, MSU was led by sophomore libero

The Mavericks will hit the road next week as they will travel up north on Friday to take on #2 Minnesota Duluth. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
