VERMILLION, S.D. --- The Minnesota State swimming and diving team opened its season with 175-116 loss to the University of South Dakota Friday evening.
As a team, Minnesota State posted the top finish in four swim events
Freshman
Cecilia Hake won the 100-meter backstroke event with a time of 1:08.04, with senior
Emily Green following close behind in second place with a mark of 1:08.21.
The 200-meter backstroke event saw freshman
Chelsea Calhoun come out on top with a time of 2:27.47. Green finished third in the 200-meter backstroke with a time of 2:30.49 as well.
Freshman
Carley LeDoux took first place in the 200-meter IM with a time of 2:38.89, with junior
Jade Ely following in second place with a time of 2:39.84.
The Mavericks also won the 400-meter freestyle relay as Green, Calhoon, Ely and senior
Tessa Cady posted a time of 4:13.30.
The Mavericks return home on Friday, Oct. 17, as they take on UW-Eau Claire at 5 p.m.
