Box Score 2 Saint Peter, Minn. --- The Minnesota State University softball team earned its fourth and fifth consecutive wins as it downed MSU-Moorhead by scores of 8-0 in five innings and 8-1, improving to 25-7 on the season with a mark of 10-2 on the circuit.
The Mavericks drew first blood in the second inning of the first contest posting two runs as juniors
Anna Cole and
Kelly Wood each crossed home plate with Wood and junior
Eryn Edgerton each earning the RBI.
MSU-Moorhead would get within striking distance as they had the bases loaded with two outs in the top of the third inning, but were unable to score a run as the Mavericks recorded the third out of the inning on a fielder choice.
The Mavericks would tally another three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning as Cole hit a three run homerun scoring herself and juniors

Samantha Holien taking a 5-0 run after four complete innings.
MSU would continue its scoring efforts as it was senior
Abby Sonner recording the two run shot scoring Morris, giving the Mavericks a 7-0 lead with one out in the fifth inning. The Mavericks would end the game in walk-off fashion as it was an RBI single by Cole, scoring Holien.
The Maverick offensive charge was led by Cole who recorded two runs on three hits in three at-bats with four RBI. Sonner recorded one hit on one run with two RBI.
Senior pitcher
Courtney McKelvogue gave up one hit and walked one batter while striking out four in five innings of work.
The Dragons struck first in the second contest as they recorded one run on three hits taking an early 1-0 lead after the top of the first inning.
It was senior
Lauryn Morris earning the first run of the day for the Mavericks off the bat of Holien who recorded the RBI single. Wood would record the RBI single with two outs, scoring Erickson giving the Mavericks their first lead of the contest. MSU was not done scoring in the inning however, they would post five runs in the inning, taking a 5-1 lead after the first inning.
The Mavericks would tally another three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning as Holien hit a two run dinger, scoring herself and Erickson and senior
Jenna Peterson would round out the Mavericks scoring, extending their lead to 8-1 after five innings of play, and would go on to be the final score.
Sophomore
Brittany Lauterbach went all seven innings giving up one run on six hits with three strikeouts.
MSU was led offensively by Holien who recorded two runs on two hits with three RBI to go along with five putouts in the field.
The Mavericks will return to action as they travel to Fayette, Iowa to do battle with Upper Iowa University, game times are slated for 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., Wednesday, April 10.
