Minnetonka, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women’s tennis team fell to Augustana 5-0 Sunday morning in the second round of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament.
With the loss the Mavericks fell to 11-9 on the season, while the Vikings improved to 19-2.
MSU opened the dual losing all three of the doubles matches. The pairing of senior
Hailey Robb and freshman
Kelly Lechowski put forth the best effort in the No. 3 doubles match as they lost 8-6 to the pairing of Heather Sullivan and Jenna Helleberg.
Augustana went on to win the first two completed singles matches to secure the 5-0 win. Senior
Brandi Dohmen fell to Katie Jesperson in the No. 1 singles match 6-0, 6-1, while sophomore
Shealyn Bakke dropped the No. 4 singles match to Hannah Gebauer 6-1, 6-1.
The Mavericks will learn their postseason fate Tuesday, at 8:30 p.m., at the NCAA Selection Show. The top four teams of each region advance to the NCAA Tournament.
