Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women’s tennis team will take on Northern State Saturday, at 4:30 p.m., in the first round of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament.
The NSIC Tournament will be held at the Life Time Fitness Oakdale (Village Tennis) in Minnetonka, Minn. The winner of the tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Central Region Tournament.
The Mavericks finished their season with a 10-8 record, including a 9-3 record in conference play. With its 9-3 NSIC record, MSU earned the No. 4 seed in the eight-team NSIC Tournament held in Minnetonka, Minn.
The Wolves finished their season with a 9-4 record, including a 7-4 league record, en route to earning the No. 5 seed in the NSIC Tournament.
The Mavericks defeated NSU 5-4 in their only meeting this season. MSU claimed one of the doubles matches and four singles matches to secure the win.
Should MSU defeats Northern State in the first round it would take on the winner of the Augustana/Sioux Falls dual Sunday at 8 a.m., in the second round of the NSIC Tournament, with the championship round set to follow at 12 p.m.
