Box Score 2 Savage, Minn. --- The Minnesota State softball team (20-6, 5-1 NSIC) downed Bemidji State (7-16, 1-5 NSIC) by scores of 15-0 in five innings and 8-0 in six innings earning its 19
th and 20
th wins of the 2013 campaign. Senior pitcher
Courtney McKelvogue threw a perfect game in the series opener.
In the first inning it was McKelvogue striking out all three batters she faced, offensively the Mavericks were able to strike first as fellow senior
Lauryn Morris recorded the solo homerun giving MSU the 1-0 lead after one complete.
MSU was able to record 11 runs in the second inning, as juniors

Eryn Edgerton, and senior
Jenna Peterson each crossed home plate twice, bringing the score to 12-0 in favor of the Mavericks.
The Mavericks tallied another three runs in the fourth inning as junior
Kelly Wood, senior
Jenna Peterson each recorded runs, while freshman
Avery Carter hit one over the fence for the two run shot extending the MSU lead to 15-0.
MSU was led by freshman
Tatum Klein who recorded two hits and one run in three at-bats with three RBI. Carter, Morris and junior
Samantha Holien all recorded two RBI in the first contest of the day.
McKelvogue pitched a complete game, giving up no hits or runs with no walks while recording nine strikeouts in five innings of work.
MSU struck first in the second contest of the day as Klein hit a leadoff single, eventually crossing home plate off the bat of Morris who was credited with the RBI. Wood and Cole each hit doubles in the second inning and each would score runs in the inning, bringing the score to 3-0 in favor of the Mavericks after two complete innings played.
The Mavericks would tally two runs in the second inning, two runs in the fourth inning and three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, earning the 8-0 win in six innings.
Sophomore
Brittany Lauterbach was credited with the win, she went five innings and gave up one hit, with one walk, while striking out seven batters. Peterson pitched an inning in relief giving up one hit in four batters faced.
Peterson led the offensive charge for the Mavericks in game two, recording one hit in one at-bat with two RBI. Klein and Cole each recorded two runs in the contest. Collectively MSU tallied eight runs on 12 hits with five RBI.
The Mavericks will continue conference play against Southwest Minnesota State this week, before hosting Northern State and MSU-Moorhead this weekend.
