Winona, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women’s tennis team finished its weekend with a 1-1 record Saturday evening as it defeated the University of Mary 5-4, before falling to Winona State 7-2.
With their 1-1 showing on Saturday, the Mavericks now own a 6-3 record, including a 5-3 record in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play.
MSU began the day with a 5-4 win over the University of Mary.
The pairing of freshman
Kelly Lechowski and senior
Hailey Robb claimed MSU’s only doubles victory over the Marauders as they posted an 8-1 win in the No. 3 doubles match.
MSU went on to win four of the six singles matches to claim a 5-4 win.

Sarah McCann and sophomore
Shealyn Bakke posted a pair of 6-0, 6-0 wins in the No. 3 and No. 4 singles matches, respectively. Freshman
Alexis Haakedahl added a 6-1, 6-0 win in the No. 5 singles match, while junior
Alexis Ronney posted a 6-2, 6-1 win in the No. 6 singles match.
The Mavericks finished the day with a 7-2 loss to Winona State.
The pairing of Robb and Lechowski won the No. 3 doubles match 8-2, while Bakke won the No. 4 singles match 7-6, 2-6, 10-6.
MSU will be back in action March 9 as it heads to Puerto Rico for its spring break trip.
