Humacao, Puerto Rico --- The Minnesota State women’s tennis team opened its spring break trip with an 8-1 loss to the Colgate Raiders.
With the loss, MSU falls to 6-4 on the season, while Colgate improves to 8-0.
MSU’s lone point of the dual came in the No. 3 singles match as freshman
Sarah McCann defeated Kelsey Wanhainen 6-4, 7-5. Senior
Brandi Dohmen lost the No. 1 singles match, falling in the super tiebreaker 4-6, 6-4, 10-7.
The Mavericks best showing in the doubles matches came from the pairing of McCann and freshman
Monica Sanvik as they lost to Kelsey Shea and Merideth Rock 8-4.
MSU continues its spring break trip as it takes on the LIU-Brooklyn Blackbirds Wednesday, at 8:30 a.m.
