Box Score Rochester, Minn. --- Behind a three-run sixth inning, the Minnesota State softball team was able overcome a two-run deficit to defeat the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats 3-2 Friday afternoon in day one of the NSIC/MIAA Crossover.
With the win, MSU improves to 3-4 on the season and has now won its last two contests.

Courtney McKelvogue (1-3) earned the win for the Mavericks as she finished the game with 10 strikeouts, while giving up just two runs on six hits. NWMS pitcher Jenna Creger (3-1) was saddled with the loss as she gave up three runs on six hits, while fanning four batters.
The Bearcats jumped out quickly in the first inning as they scored two runs on three hits including a two-run shot from Stephanie Price to take a quick 2-0 lead.
After the bottom half of the first McKelvogue and Creger dominated the flow of the game as they gave up a total of four hits until the bottom of the sixth where MSU finally broke through as it tallied three runs, on three hits to take the lead 3-2.

Anna Cole each drove in a run in the bottom of the sixth to give the Mavericks the lead. McKelvogue set the Bearcats down in order in the bottom of the seventh to secure the win.
Minnesota State continues play in the NSIC/MIAA Crossover Saturday as it takes on Washburn (10 a.m.) and St. Cloud State (2 p.m.).
