Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State softball team will take part in the NSIC/MIAA Crossover Tournament beginning Friday. The Mavericks are scheduled to play five games during the three-day tournament which concludes Sunday.
All games will be played in the RCTC Dome in Rochester, Minn.
MSU begins the week Friday as it takes on the Washburn Lady Blues at 11 a.m. Washburn is 2-6 on the season and has lost its last five games including a 13-6 loss to Southern Nazarene in its last outing.
MSU will take on a pair of opponents Saturday including Fort Hays State (12 p.m.) and Nebraska-Kearney (6 p.m.).
The Fort Hays State Tigers are 7-1 on the season and began the year on a six-game winning streak. In their most recent outing, the Tigers defeated Nebraska-Kearney 6-0.
The Nebraska-Kearney Lopers enter the weekend with a 3-7 record and are currently on a three-game losing streak. In their last outing, the Lopers lost 14-10 to the University of Illinois, Springfield.
MSU concludes the NSIC/MIAA Crossover tournament Sunday as it takes on Lindenwood (10 a.m.) and Northwest Missouri State (12 p.m.).
The Lindenwood Lions are 3-4 on the season, and are on a two-game winning streak with wins over Eckerd College (12-4) and Florida Institute of Technology (3-0).
The Northwest Missouri State Bearcats are 7-0 on the season including a 9-6 win over Oklahoma Panhandle State its last outing.
