Mankato, Minn. --- The fifth-rated Minnesota State men's basketball team continues its homestand Tuesday as it takes on the Clarke Crusaders. The opening tip is set for 7 p.m.

Concerning the Mavericks: Last week, the Mavericks improved to 4-1 on the season as they won a pair of games against Waldorf (94-50) and Jamestown (81-59). In its two wins, MSU averaged 87.5 points per game and shot 53.6% from the field.
Through MSU's five games this season, a total of five Mavericks are averaging more than 10 points per game, with senior
Gage Wooten leading the way with 14.6 points per game. Junior
Assem Marei is averaging 13 points and a team-high six rebounds per game, while junior
Zach Monaghan is averaging 12.6 points and 4.8 assists per game.
As a team, the Mavericks are averaging 83 points a game, to go along with 40.8 rebounds per contest. MSU is also shooting 50.5% from the field and has passed out 81 assists.
Concerning Clarke: The Clarke Crusaders currently stand at 4-1 on the season, including an 87-77 win over Trinity International in their last game. Clarke defeated Waldorf 73-65 in its first game of the season.
The Crusaders have five players averaging more than 10 points per game, including John Hedrington, who is averaging a team-high 11.4 points per game. Dominique McKinzie is averaging a team-high 6.3 rebounds per game, while David Neis has passed out 17 assists.
As a team, Clarke is averaging 81.2 points and 38 rebounds per game. The Crusaders are also shooting 44% from the field and 72.4% from the line.
Jerry Drymon is in his sixth season as head coach for the Crusaders.
