Mankato, Minn. --- Minnesota State men’s basketball coach
Matt Margenthaler has announced that
Lucas Brown (Roseville, Minn./Wofford) will join the Maverick basketball program next season and be eligible to play as a sophomore.
Brown, a 6-5, 215-pound guard, joins
Zach Monaghan (South Dakota State),
Jarvis Williams (UW-Green Bay) and
Gage Wooten (Missouri State - West Plains) and
Grant Pope (Waterville, Minn.) as newcomers to the Maverick basketball team this spring.
All signings and transfers are contingent upon admission to MSU and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center.
“We are very excited to add Lucas Brown to the Maverick family,” said Margenthaler. “He brings great athleticism and will fit perfectly in our system. He will be an impact player that will help us get back to our level of expectations My staff has done a great job on this year’s recruiting class.”
The 2011 Roseville Area High School graduate played in seven games for Wofford last season. As a senior, Brown averaged 18.5 ppg, was one of five finalists for the 2011 Minnesota Mr. Basketball award, and was also Honorable Mention All-State.
Minnesota State finished the 2011-12 season with a 7-19 record and was 6-16 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference games.
