St. Peter, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women’s tennis team snapped a five-match losing streak Sunday morning as it downed Southwest Minnesota State by a score of 9-0.
After sweeping the doubles matches, the Mavericks opened singles play with freshman Shealyn Bakke earning a 6-0, 6-1 win at the #4 flight. The winning trend continued as freshman Joey Bosch won 6-2, 6-2 at the #3 flight, followed by junior Kathryn Gavin earning a 6-1, 6-1 win at the top-flight. Junior Hailey Robb earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at the #6 position and freshman Laura May followed with a 6-0, 6-0 win at the #3 flight. The match ended with junior Brandi Dohmen winning 6-1, 6-1 at the #2 flight.
Minnesota State (6-7, 4-1 NSIC) returns to action Saturday as it travels to St. Cloud for a pair of neutral sit conference matches against Bemidji State (1:30 p.m.) and Winona State (4:30 p.m.).
