Minnesota State vs. Gustavus | Minnesota State vs. Upper Iowa
St. Peter, Minn. --- The Minnesota State tennis team suffered a pair of losses Saturday at the Swanson Tennis Center on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus University.
The Mavericks opened the day with a 9-0 loss to Gustavus, the #17 ranked team in the nation and the #5 ranked team in the region, according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
In the nightcap against Upper Iowa – ranked #3 in region by the ITA – the Mavericks picked up just one win in doubles action as freshmen #Joey Bosch# and #Laura May# earned an 8-4 win at the #3 flight.
In singles action, the Mavericks earned three wins as junior Brandi Dohmen earned a 6-1, 6-2 win at the #2 flight. May won 6-1, 6-0 at the #5 flight and junior Hailey Robb picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win at the #6 flight to close out the Maverick victories.
Minnesota State (5-7, 3-1 NSIC) returns to action Sunday as it faces Southwest Minnesota State at the Swanson Tennis Center. First serve is slated for 9:30 a.m.
