Mankato, Minn. --- The Wayne State Wildcats earned a 67-52 wire-to-wire victory over Minnesota State Saturday evening.
WSC opened with an 8-0 run and never looked back, opening a 36-21 halftime advantage. MSU cut the deficit to two twice, including at 21-19 with 7:26 remaining before the Wildcats closed the half on a 15-2 run.
The Wildcats maintained a double-digit lead for the entire second half to secure the victory.
Minnesota State was led in scoring by freshman post Zach Romashko who scored 12 points while senior guard Stephen Kirschbaum and sophomore guard Jimmy Whitehead scored ten. The Mavericks shot 50 percent in the loss and were just 2-of-14 from downtown.
Derrell Williams led the Wildcats in scoring with 20 points.
Minnesota State (7-14, 6-12 NSIC) returns to action Friday when it travels to St. Cloud State. Tip is set for 8 p.m.
