Mankato, Minn. - Bemidji State used 30 points from forward James Ellisor en route to a 78-64 victory over Minnesota State
Saturday evening in front of 1,093 fans in the Taylor Center on the campus of Minnesota State University.
Bemidji State – which led wire-to-wire- opened a first-half lead as big as 30-20 with 5:02 remaining before MSU used a 10-4 run to cut the halftime deficit to four at 34-30. The run was sparked by sophomore guard
Alex Hanks and sophomore forward
Connor O’Brien, each of which scored four points.
The Mavericks shot 42.9 percent in the first half while outrebounding the Beavers, 21-15.
Bemidji State maintained a lead for the entire second half, maintaining a multiple possession lead for much of the half.
Minnesota State was led in scoring by freshman post
Zach Romashko who scored 20 points while grabbing six rebounds, a tally tied for the team high. The 20-point game marked the sixth of the season for Romashko.
O’Brien added 15 points in the loss.
Minnesota State finished the night shooting 46.4 percent while BSU hit on 46.7. The Mavericks won the battle of the glass, 78-64.
MSU (7-18, 6-15 NSIC) wraps up the 2011-12 season next Saturday with a 4 p.m., contest against Southwest Minnesota State.
