What's Up?: The Minnesota State men's basketball team (7-16, 6-12 NSIC) opens a three-game homestand to close out the regular season portion of its schedule this weekend as it entertains Minnesota Duluth (Friday, 8 p.m.) and Bemidji State (Saturday, 6 p.m.). Both games can be heard on AM 1230 KYSM The Fan Mankato.
Minnesota State History: The 2011-12 season marks the 90th campaign as a varsity sport for Minnesota State men’s basketball. The Mavericks are 1,187-838 (.586) in 2,025 games since the program’s inception in the 1920-21 season. MSU capped its 33rd and final season as a member of the NCC in 2008 and owned a 283-267 (.515) record in 550 league games played. In the NSIC, MSU owns a 56-25 record (.691) to go with a pair of regular-season championships.
The Mavericks have made seven appearances in the NCAA Tournament, going 12-9 (.571) in those trips.
A Little Bit About Minnesota Duluth: Minnesota Duluth enters the weekend owners of a 13-9 record and are 10-8 in the NSIC, good for seventh-place. Senior guard Ryan Rasmussen leads the team in scoring at 19.2 points per game while junior guard Jake Hottenstine is averaging 15.9 points and a team-high 6.1 rebounds. Sophomore center Brett Ervin rounds out the Bulldogs in double figures at 12.5 points per game.
As a team, UMD is averaging 80.9 points per game while giving up 80.3. The Bulldogs are shooting 47 percent from the floor, 38.4 percent from the three-point line and 78.2 percent from the stripe. Opponents are outrebounding UMD, 36.1-35.9.

Individually, senior forward James Ellisor, the league's leading score, leads BSU in scoring at 21.5 points per game to go with a team-high 6.7 rebounds per game. Junior guard Dermaine Crockell is averaging 12 points per game to round out the Beavers in double figures.
