What Lies Ahead:  The Minnesota State women's tennis team opens the 2011 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference tournament Saturday at 12:30 p.m., against St. Cloud State.  
    
The Mavericks enter the match as the #5 seed in the event, while the Huskies are the #4 seed. The winner of the match is scheduled to face top-seeded Augustana at 5:30 p.m., Saturday.

What Just Happened:  The Mavericks went 3-2 last weekend.  After dropping a 9-0 decision to Augustana Friday, MSU rattled off three victories Saturday (8-1 vs. Northern State, 9-0 vs. U-Mary and 9-0 vs. Bemidji State) before suffering a 9-0 loss to Winona State Monday afternoon.

Rankings: In last month's ITA rankings, the Mavericks were ranked seventh in the region.  Senior Sarah Madigan and sophomore Kathryn Gavin were ranked ninth in doubles action.  The next edition of the ITA Regional rankings is scheduled for May 4.

the first edition of the NCAA Central Region rankings, the Mavericks were ranked sixth.
