Mayaguez, Puerto Rico --- The Minnesota State men's tennis team suffered a pair of losses as it continued its spring break trip to Puerto Rico. MSU opened the day with a 7-2 loss to the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez before falling by the same score to Wabash College.
In the opener, MSU earned an 8-6 win at the #3 doubles flight as sophomore
Christian Bernal and freshman
Matt Jameson collected the win. The Mavericks picked up a singles point at the #6 flight when freshman
Jon Alland won his match, 6-4, 6-2.
In MSU's second match of the day MSU opened doubles play with an 8-6 win at the #1 flight by sophomores
Mitch Barr and
Cole Jensen. Jensen then survived a marathon match at #2 singles to pick up the other Maverick point by earning a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 victory in a match that lasted two hours and 40 minutes.
The Mavericks (4-5) return to action tomorrow afternoon when they face Bryant College.
