St. Peter, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women’s tennis team picked up a 6-3 win over Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference rival Southwest Minnesota State Sunday morning.
The Mustangs took two of the three doubles points earning a win at the #3 flight as senior
Heather Jensen and junior
Tegan Bakke won 8-6 at the #3 flight.
In singles, play, sophomore
Jenny Gustafson tied the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win at the #6 flight. MSU then rattled off four consecutive victories to seal the win.
Bakke earned a 6-0, 6-1 win at the #5 flight and was followed by sophomore #Brandi Dohmen’s# 6-0, 6-1 win at the #4 flight. Sophomore
Kathryn Gavin won 6-2, 6-0 at the #2 flight and Jensen rounded out the scoring with a 6-0, 6-0 win at the #3 flight.
Minnesota State (8-5, 5-2 NSIC) travel to Kearney, Neb., next weekend for matches against Nebraska Kearney, Metro State and Mesa State.
