Duluth, Minn. --- For the second consecutive day, the Minnesota State women’s tennis team earned a 5-4 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference victory, this time over the University of Minnesota Duluth.

The Bulldogs took two of the three points available in doubles action, as MSU’s lone win came at the #3 position where senior Heather Jensen and junior Tegan Bakke earned an 8-3 victory.

The Mavericks gained momentum in singles play as sophomore Jenny Gustafson opened singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 win at the #6 spot and Bakke followed it with a 6-1, 6-0 win at the #5 position.

Jensen gave MSU its fourth point of the night as she won 6-3, 6-0 at the #4 spot. UMD then rattled off a pair of points at the #3 and #2 positions to tie the score at four.

Minnesota State senior Sarah Madigan secured the win for the Mavericks at the #1 position as she earned 6-2, 6-3 win over Carrie Dahlamn.

The Mavericks return to action March 7, in Puerto Rico as they open their five-match spring break trip with a double-header against Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico and Albion College.
