Fargo, N.D. --- The Minnesota State women’s tennis team improved to 5-1 on the young season after earning a 5-4 victory over Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference foe MSU Moorhead Saturday night in Fargo.
The Mavericks opened the match with a pair of wins in doubles play as freshman Danni Collins and sophomore
Brandi Dohmen earned an 8-2 win at the #3 slot and senior
Sarah Madigan and sophomore Kathryn Gavin earned an 8-4 win at the #1 slot.
In singles play, junior
Tegan Bakke earned a 6-2, 6-1 win at the #5 spot to push the Maverick lead to 3-2.
Gavin would break a 3-3 tie with a 6-2, 6-4 win at the #2 slot and that was followed by senior Heather Jensen securing the win with a 6-1, 6-2 win at the #4 position.
The Mavericks continue action Sunday at Minnesota Duluth at 2 p.m.
