What's Up?: The Minnesota State men's basketball team (3-7, 2-4 NSIC) opens a three-game roadtrip Monday evening as it travels to #21 MSU Moorhead for an 8 p.m., tilt with the Dragons. The Mavericks close the first swing of their roadtrip Tuesday with an 8 p.m., contest at Minnesota, Crookston.
Minnesota State History: The 2011-12 season marks the 90th campaign as a varsity sport for Minnesota State men’s basketball. The Mavericks are 1,183-829 (.588) in 2,012 games since the program’s inception in the 1920-21 season. MSU capped its 33rd and final season as a member of the NCC in 2008 and owned a 283-267 (.515) record in 550 league games played. In the NSIC, MSU owns a 52-16 record (.767) to go with a pair of regular-season championships.
The Mavericks have also made seven previous appearances in the NCAA Tournament, going 12-9 (.571) in those trips.
A Little Bit About MSU Moorhead: The Dragons enter next week's games atop the NSIC with a 9-0 record, including a 5-0 mark in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and are just one of nine teams in NCAA Division II basketball without a blemish on their record.
Junior forward Jake Lindfors leads the Dragons in scoring averaging 16.6 points per game to go with 6.7 rebounds per contest, which is the second-highest tally on the squad. Senior guard DJ Hamilton is averaging 15.1 points per game while passing out a team-high 34 assists while junior forward Alex Novak is third in scoring at 11.2 points per contest. Senior guard Charlie Champan rounds out the Dragons in double-figures by averaging 11.0 points per game.
As a team, MSUM is scoring 75.2 points while allowing 59.8. The Dragons are shooting 49.3 percent from the floor and own a 31.6-26.3 rebounding advantage.
Chad Walthall is in his second year with the program and owns a 24-12 record at MSU Moorhead.

As a squad, UMC is averaging 67.4 points per game while allowing 63.90. As a team, Minnesota, Crookston is shooting 46.6 percent from the floor and owns a 32.6-29.0 rebounding advantage.
Senior wing Akeem Cubie leads the Golden Eagles in scoring averaging 16.0 points per game to 4.3 rebounds per game. Senior guard Jacolby Anderson averages 15.6 points per game to round out the UMC players in double-digits.
