What Lies Ahead: After going 3-0 last week, the No. 19 Minnesota State Mavericks (15-7, 8-6 NSIC) are scheduled for one match this week as they travel to Marshall, Minn., to face the No. 9 Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs. The tilt with the Mustangs is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m., Saturday.
Look Back At Unbeaten Week: The No. 19 Minnesota State Mavericks went 3-0 last week including wins in four sets over No. 13 Wayne State and Upper Iowa, and a win in five sets over Winona State. With the three wins, MSU is now on a four-match win streak dating back to Oct. 15. Numerous career milestones were reached last week including a new leader in all-time assists. Senior setter
Brittany Stamer is now the school’s all-time leader in assists as she passed Jen Blendermann who competed for the Mavericks from 1999-2002. Stamer recorded 162 assists (12.4 per set) last week as she now has 4,419 for her career. Along with her impressive number of assists, Stamer recorded 66 digs last week (5.08 per set) as she now leads the team with 346 this season and is sixth all-time in school history with 1,097 career digs. Also reaching a career milestone was senior defensive specialist
Alli Rice who is now second in school history with 1,277 career digs. Rice recorded 59 digs last week (4.54 per set) as she is currently second on the team with 341 this season. A third Maverick who reached a career milestone was junior outside hitter
Chelsea Fogarty who recorded 56 kills on 157 attempts last week (.261) as she became the ninth Maverick to join the 1,000 kill club. Fogarty now has 1,027 career kills as she currently leads the team with 328 this season.
We’ve Got A New Number One: Last year setter Brittany Stamer led the Mavericks with 1,191 assists as she became the fifth Maverick to join the MSU 3,000 assist club. Stamer has recorded 984 assists this year as she recently joined the MSU 4,000 assist club which only one previous Maverick has accomplished. Stamer currently owns 4,419 career assists as she now owns the school’s all-time record. Stamer passed Jen Blendermann (1999-2002) on Oct. 22 when she recorded 56 assists in a win over Winona State. Blendermann finished her Maverick career with 4,367 career assists.
