La Crosse, Wis. --- Seniors Brittany Henderson and Kelsey Leonard won the 200 and 400-meter dashes Friday evening to pace the Minnesota State women’s track and field team at the UW-La Crosse Eagle Open.
Henderson turned in a time of :24.12 in the 200-meter dash, finishing more than a second ahead of the second-place finisher, Natasha Arnold of UW-River Falls who finished in :25.53.
In the 400-meter dash, Leonard turned in a time of :54.98, which reached the automatic qualifying mark for the NCAA championships later this month.
Sophomore Ali Paul turned in a second-place finish in the 5,000-meter run while senior Whitney Kroschel was second in the pole vault, scaling 12’2”.
In relays action, the Mavericks won the 4x100-meter relay with a time of :46.65. The quartet was made up of junior Linnelle Clark, freshman Becca Schmidt, Leonard and Henderson.
The Mavericks continue action Saturday at the Winona State Qualifier.
