It's All Academic: The Mavericks had three players featured on the
NSIC All-Academic team this winter. Senior

Academic All-NSIC picks. To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must maintain a 3.20 cumulative grade point average or higher.
All-American Accolades: Senior center
Travis Nelson was named Minnesota State's seventh All-American in school history when he was selected to the National Basketball Coaches Association All-American team last month. He was also chosen a Fourth-Team All-American by the DII Bulletin.
Mavericks Earn 17th Championship: By virtue of Winona State's 80-69 victory over St. Cloud State, the Mavericks locked up their 17th conference championship in program history and their first championship since they joined the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
Under head coach Matt Margenthaler, the Mavericks have won four league championships, three of which came in the North Central Conference (2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08) and then this year's.
Minnesota State History: The 2009-10 season marked the 88th campaign as a varsity sport for Minnesota State men’s basketball. The Mavericks are 1,153-817 (.588) in 1960 games since the program’s inception in the 1920-21 season. 2008 capped MSU’s 33rd and final season as a member of the North Central Conference, and MSU owned a 283-267 (.515) record in 550 league games played. In the NSIC, MSU owns a 31-9 record (.775). The Mavericks have also made seven previous appearances in the NCAA Tournament, going 8-8 (.500) in those trips.
