3/29/2010 10:53:41 AM

Beaverton, Ore. ---  Minnesota State center Travis Nelson was named a Fourth-Team All-American by the DII Bulletin.  The award comes on the heels of Nelson being named an All-American by the National Basketball Coaches Association last week.

Nelson, who was an All-Region pick by the NABC and Daktronics, was also a two-time All-NSIC choice and was named the league's Newcomer of the Year in 2009.

Nelson averaged 16.1 points and 5.8 rebounds this past season for the Mavericks.  A two-time All-NSIC performer Nelson shot 57.1 percent from the floor this year and 78.6 percent from the free throw line.  The Marion, Iowa native finished his career as a Maverick with 971 points and is fourth on the school’s career field goal percentage list at 56.5 percent.

Nelson is one of two players from the NSIC named to the All-American squad by the DII Bulletin, joining St. Cloud State's Matt Schneck.  He is the seventh player in school history to be named an All-American and the fourth under head coach Matt Margenthaler.

Minnesota State completed its 2009-10 season with a 25-5 record.
