BEMIDJI, MINN. --- The Minnesota State women’s tennis team snapped a seven-match losing streak with an 8-1 win over Bemidji State Sunday in the Glas Fieldhouse on the campus of Bemidji State University.
The win pulled the Maverick’s record to 8-8 on the season and 5-2 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play.
The Mavericks opened the match with a pair of victories in doubles play to race to a 2-1 advantage.
In singles action, junior Sarah Madigan earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the #1 flight before freshman Brandi Dohmen picked up a 6-1, 6-3 win at the #3 flight. The Mavericks sealed the victory when junior Heather Jensen won 6-1, 6-1, at the #6 flight.
Senior Paige Burke won 6-2, 6-0 at the #4 flight, while senior Cassandra Anderson earned a 6-1, 7-5 win at the #5 flight. Freshman Kathryn Gavin closed out the day for the Mavericks with a 6-2, 6-4 win at the #2 flight.
The Mavericks return to action Friday as they travel to Kearney, Neb., to face the University of Nebraska Kearney at 9 a.m.
