Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women’s tennis team suffered a 5-4 loss to Augustana Sunday at the Mankato Tennis Center in Mankato, Minn.
Augustana won two of the three doubles matches, with MSU’s only victory coming at the #1 flight where junior Sarah Madigan and freshman Kathyrn Gavin earned an 8-5 win.
In singles play, Augustana earned wins at the #1 and #2 spots before freshman Brandi Dohmen earned a 6-2, 4-6, 10-5 win at the #3 flight. Senior Paige Burke pulled MSU within one game the #4 slot, as she earned a 6-4, 6-2 decision.
Augustana iced the match at the #5 position as senior Cassandra Anderson fell to Adrienne Conley, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5). Junior Heather Jensen closed the Maverick scoring in the match with a 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 win at the #6 spot.
The Mavericks (7-2, 4-2 NSIC) are idle until March 7, when they travel to Florida for their annual spring trip. MSU opens play in the Sunshine State against Indianapolis at 1:30 p.m.
