Mankato, Minn.--The Minnesota State University women’s track and field squad continued to host the second day of the MSU Open & Pentathlon Saturday, January 30th at Meyers Field House.
The Mavericks performed well on the day with one first-place finisher and ten placing in the top five.
In the field events, Mavericks took the top three places in pole vault competition as Lauren Stelten earned first with a height of 4.07 meters, Whitney Kroschel second with a height of 3.56 meter and Lisa Stocker third with height of 3.41 meters.
In the sprints, Brittany Henderson won the 200-meter dash in :25.64, she continued her day by placing second in the 400-meter dash with a time of :57.79. Becca Schmidt and Linnelle Clark placed 2rd & 4th in the 60-meter dash with times of 7.73 & 7.85 seconds respectively. Katie Hopper placed third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.67.
In the distance races, Lauren Beukelman placed fifth in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:39.55, while Natalie Lyster placed 5th with a time of 2:18.50 in the 800 meter run.
In the 4x400-meter relay, Mavericks placed second with a time of 3:58.76.
The Mavericks stay home next weekend as they host the Ted Nelson Classic on Saturday, February 6th at Meyers Field House.
