Jamie Suapaia

Jamie Suapaia enters his first season as an assistant coach with the Minnesota State volleyball team. 

Suapaia, who had previously served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Mavericks from 2005-10, served as an assistant coach with the women's volleyball program at Hamline for two seasons prior to joining MSU. While at Hamline, he coached three all-conference players including the Co-Defensive Player of the Year. He also assisted in recruiting and practice planning. 

Suapaia served as the Stillwater High School head volleyball coach from 2012-13 where he oversaw two freshmen teams, a tenth-grade team, to go along with a junior varsity and varsity team. He was in charge of all game day activities, including accommodations for the visiting teams. In addition to his game day and coaching responsibilities, Suapaia also helped raise over $15,000 with volleyball fundraising activities.

While working at Stillwater and Hamline, Suapaia also worked with Minnesota One Volleyball since 2010. Suapaia initially served as a head coach/age director of a team where he helped prepare aspiring volleyball players for their high school and college seasons. He also coordinated group training programs with other coaches.

In 2012, he was named the assistant club director of Minnesota One Volleyball. While serving as the assistant club director, he organized and ran tryouts for more than 250 players ages 7-18. He also created a training cirriculum for all 20 teams and helped start a fall league that brought in more than 40 players during its first year.

Suapaia earned a bachelor's degree in law enforcement from Minnesota State in 2015.
