Biography

2013-14: Barnes’ 12 assists this year are a team-high, while her 15 points are tied for second-most on the team...Played in all 22 games and set a single-game career-high with two goals, both on the power-play, at Lindenwood on Oct. 11...Taken 37 shots and is one goal shy of matching her single-season career-best (4)...Tied for second in the WCHA and tied for sixth nationally in power-play points with 2-7=9 on the advantage this season...Also seventh in the league and 17th in the country for points by a defenseman.
     
The senior’s scored one career game-winning goal and generated 10-37=47 in 93 career games played since transferring to Minnesota State before her sophomore season to tie for 21st on the Maverick career scoring chart.

2012-13: Finished as MSU's second-highest scoring defenseman with 3-11--14  ... Fired 32 shots on goal
while appearing in 35 of 36 games ... Scored the first Maverick goal of the year Sept. 28 vs. Wisconsin and the last goal of the season against North Dakota on Mar. 2 ... Recorded a season-high two points with a goal and an assist Jan. 12 at Bemidji State ... A 2012-13 WCHA Scholar-Athlete and All-WCHA Academic Team Member.

2011-12: Played in all 36 games...Finished with 4-14--18 ranking her third on the team in points while firing 61 shots...Led the team with 14 assists...Netted the game-winning goal in MSU's 4-3 season opening win Sept. 30th against Lindenwood.

PRE MSU: Barnes played in 31 games for Mercyhurst College in 2010-11, finishing the season with 0-8--8 and a +7 rating...

THE BARNES FILE:  Helped Burnsville High School to a 22-8-1 record and its second state consolation title in the past four seasons as a senior...Scored 22 goals and added 28 assists to become the school’s all-time assists leader (101) and a top-10 finalist for the 2010 Let’s Play Hockey Ms. Hockey Award...Daughter of Rich and Connie Barnes...Two siblings, Tyler and Tanner....Brother Tyler  plays hockey for the Wisconsin Badgers and Brother Tanner plays for the Brookings Blizzard of the NAHL.  Major is business management with a minor in marketing.
