2012: Collected 0-2--2 off eight shots while starting all 23 matches for MSU...Led the Mavericks with 2,072 minutes played...Was selected Academic All-NSIC and First Team All-NSIC and became the first player in program history to be named NSIC Defensive Player of the Year...Also reeled in Daktronics First Team All-Region, NSCAA Second Team All-Region and Daktronics Third Team All-America honors.
2011: Started all 23 games at defense last season...Collected two goals and three assists...She totalled a goal and assist against Sioux Falls (10/3)...Had an assist against Minnesota, Crookston...Scored the game-winner in the quarterfinal game of the NSIC Tournament against Bemidji State...Had nine shots on goal over the season, including two against UMD in the NSIC semifinal...Selected to the Second Team All-NSIC...Named to the NSIC All-Tournament Team...Selected to the NSCAA Second Team All-Region.
Pre-MSU: Played two years at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay as she saw playing time in every game her freshman and sophomore seasons...Last season, Somers netted two goals on her eight shots on goal for the Phoenix...In 2009, she was named to the Horizon League All-Newcomer Team for her three goals and five shots on goal in her freshman season.
High School: Somers was a four-year starter and letterwinner for the Jaguars... Was named team MVP her junior and senior season, as well as being named all-conference in both seasons...Racked in the awards her senior year receiving all-metro and all-state nominations and played in the Senior Classic…Somers lettered three times in basketball, while starting her junior and senior seasons…The Bloomington, Minn., native earned academic letters her sophomore, junior and senior year in high school.
