High School: Three-year starter at quarterback for Mankato West…Also played for the Scarlet basketball and baseball teams… As a sophomore he threw for 2,220 yards and 25 touchdowns to go along with allcity and all-conference honors…Claimed all-state honors during junior season as he threw for 2,185 yards and 25 touchdowns, while rushing for 683 yards and 10 touchdowns…Guided his team to a state championship during his senior season as he threw for 3,141 yards and 45 touchdowns…Earned several player of the year accolades including Gaterade Player of the Year, AP Player of the Year, Big 9 Player of the Year and USA Today Minnesota Player of the Year…Named to honor roll… Finished career at Mankato West holding every season and career passing record except for career passing yards…Served as a pitcher for the Mankato West baseball team and helped them to a 16-9 record as a junior…Played three seasons of basketball at Mankato West as well.
