Biography

2018: Played and started in all 14 games on the defensive line…Notched 25 tackles, including 6.5 for a loss…Finished second on the team in sacks with 5.5…Recovered a fumble and forced two more…Garnered All-NSIC First Team honors and Don Hansen All-Super Region 4 Second Team honors…Blocked a field goal vs. Sioux Falls.

2017: Started in all 14 games for the Mavericks on the defensive line…Finished the season with 42 tackles, including 3.5 for a loss…Also notched three sacks…Posted a season-high four tackles in four games.

2016: Made five starts, while playing in all 11 games…Tallied 22 tackles and finished fourth on the team in tackles for loss with 5.5…Recorded 2.5 sacks…Recorded one interception and one fumble recovery…Posted a season-high five tackles against Southwest Minnesota State.

2015: Saw action in 11 games…Notched 15 tackles, including two for a loss of 17 yards…Recorded one interception and defended two passes…Tallied a season-high four tackles against Upper Iowa.

2014: Redshirted.

High School: A three-year starter out of Chatfield High School, LaPlante earned three letters in football, basketball and track and field…Earned all-conference honors in football his junior and senior seasons…Earned third team all-state honors his senior season as he helped his team to a state championship…Set a school record in the discus event his sophomore season and the broke his own mark as a junior with a throw on 167’ 10”…Finished second at the state meet in the discus event (169’ 9”) his junior season.
