High School: A four-year letterwinner from Ceresco, Neb., Welsh competed in football, wrestling and track and field at Bishop Newmann High School…Started on both the offensive and defensive lines…Helped his team to three playoff appearances, including the state championship  game during his junior season…Started in 42 games during his four seasons…Received All-State honors as a member of the defensive line during his junior and senior seasons…Tallied 68 tackles as a junior and 69 tackles as senior…Named to the honor roll…Competed in the shot put as a member of the track and field team…Wrestled at 220 pounds for three seasons and at 285 pounds during his senior season.
