Graham Hevel

Recruiting Coordinator and Recruiting Area (Iowa) 

Graham Hevel joined the Minnesota State coaching staff in February 2021 as the Defensive Ends Coach. In August 2022, Hevel was named the Cornerbacks Coach, a position held until March 2023, when Hevel was appointed the team's Special Teams Coordinator and Defensive Line Coach. Most recently, Hevel was named Co-Defensive Coordinator and Linebackers Coach in June 2025. 

During the 2021 season, Hevel was the team's Defensive Ends Coach. In the 2022 season, the Mavericks won an NSIC Conference Championship, and Hevel served as the Cornerbacks Coach, coaching Trey Vaval, who would later receive AII-NSIC, D2CCA All-American, and Don Hansen All-American honors. 

In 2023, Hevel worked with the defensive line and special teams. Maven Kretche claimed AII-NSIC, AFCA All-American, Don Hansen All-American, D2CCA All-Super Region, and D2Football.com Elite 100 honors on the defensive line. Maven Kretche also led the NSIC Conference in total sacks during the 2023 season with 10.5 sacks. Trey Vaval claimed AII-NSIC, D2CCA All-Super Region Four, and AFCA All-American honors as a return specialist. 

During the 2024 Regional Championship season for the Mavericks, Hevel worked with the defensive line and special teams. Maven Kretche and Cody Brown claimed AII-NSIC honors on the defensive line, while TreShawn Watson earned AII-NSIC honors as a return specialist. 

Prior to joining the Mavericks, Hevel served as a graduate assistant at UW-Whitewater from 2020-21 where he assisted in coaching the defensive line and linebackers. 

Before becoming a coach at UW-Whitewater, he played there as a linebacker from 2015-19. He helped his team achieve two NCAA DIii semifinal appearances in 2015 and 2018, along with a NCAA DIii Runner-Up finish in 2019. 

A native of Orland Park, Ill., Hevel graduated from UW-Whitewater in the spring of 2020 with a bachelor's degree in physical education. He completed his master's degree in Higher Education Leadership with an emphasis in Athletic Administration in the fall of 2022.
