Bryan Boesen joined the Minnesota State football coaching staff in March 2021 as the running backs coach.

The 2021 season saw the Mavericks rank second in the NSIC in rushing yards per game with 206.5 yards. Kaleb Sleezer led the team with 491 rushing yards, to go along with five touchdowns in eight games.

Prior to joining the Purple and Gold, Boesen was a graduate assistant coach at Hastings College in 2018 where he served as the team's defensive backs coach. He coached the team's first defensive All-American in 23 seasons, while also assisting with special teams. In the summer of 2019, he was named special teams coordinator and quarterbacks coach. He would also work as a pass game coordinator and served as the interim offensive coordinator.

Before joining Hastings College, Boesen worked as a defensive backs coach at Simpson College for one season beginning in the summer of 2017. Prior to joining Simpson College, he spent one season as a defensive assistant coach at Colby College. where he worked with the defensive backs.

A native of Boone, Iowa, Boesen was a two-year letterwinner with Simpson College as a quarterback during the 2014 and 2015 seasons. Boesen earned a bachelors degree in physical education from Simpson College in 2016 and is working toward his masters degree in teaching at Simpson College.
