Recruiting Area (North and South Dakota)
Austin Schmidt worked as a video assistant with the Minnesota State football from 2019-21. Schmidt graduated from Minnesota State in the fall of 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in sport management and a minor in business law. He was named to the Dean’s List from 2019-21 and graduated Suma Cum Laude. In the summer of the 2022 he was named the kicking and punt specialist coach.
During the 2022 season, Minnesota State's kicking and punting units both led the NSIC with 41.6 and 37.0 net yards, respectively. The Mavericks also finished third in field goals made with 13.
In March 2023, Schmidt was named MSU's running backs coach.
