Season Records & Accomplishments
 

· First women’s basketball National Championship in school history

· First appearance in the NCAA Elite Eight

· 2008-09 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Champions – 2nd conference title in school history, first since 1985-86 season

· Finished with 32-2 record – 32 wins are the most in a season at MSU

· Started the season 17-0 passing the previous mark of 16-0 set by the 1985-86 team

· Scored 2,763 points for an average of 81.3 points per game – both MSU records

· Recorded 16 home wins – most in school history

· Team shot 47.2% from the field – new school record

· Ranked #1 in the USA Today/ESPN Division II National Poll for first time in school history

Heather Johnson was named MVP of the Elite Eight after averaging 20.6 points per game while shooting 59.4% from the field.
Alex Andrews notched two double-doubles at the Elite Eight as she averaged 16.6 points and 8.0 rebounds a game.
Joanne Noreen averaged 18.0 points and 5.6 rebounds per game at the Elite Eight, while shooting 54.0% from the field.

Individual Career Records
 

· Alex Andrews, Flecia Foster and Joanne Noreen played in all of MSU’s 122 games over the last four seasons to set a new record for consecutive games played

· Heather Johnson set a school record with 246 3pt shots made at MSU

· Heather Johnson set a school record shooting 81.9% from the FT line

 

Individual Season Records Established 2008-09

 

· Joanne Noreen made 155 free throws and attempted 192 free throws – both MSU season records

· Heather Johnson tied her record set during the 2007-08 season with 81 3pt shots made in a season

· Heather Johnson finished 5th on the all-time scoring list with 1,502 points

· Joanne Noreen finished 8th on the all-time scoring list with 1,335 points

· Alex Andrews finished 13th on the all-time scoring list with 1,176 points

· Alex became the 11th Maverick to reach the 800 point/500 rebound mark by accumulating 1,176 points and 695 rebounds in her career

Tiffany Moe averaged 12.3 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game at the Elite Eight.
Andrea Walsh started in all three games at the Elite Eight, which included a seven point, five assist showing against Alaska Anchorage.
Flecia Foster played in every game for the Mavericks during the 2008-09 season. She posted a season-high 14 points against Augustana.

· Finished 1st in the Nation in win/loss percentage at 94.1%

· Finished 2nd in the Nation in Assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.27

· Finished 3rd in the Nation in Field Goal percentage at 47.2%

· Finished 9th in the Nation in Scoring Margin at 16.6ppg

· Tiffany Moe finished 5th in the Nation in Assist-to-Turnover Ratio at 2.38

· Andrea Walsh finished 6th in the Nation in Assist-to-Turnover Ratio at 2.34

Liz Trauger averaged 8.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per game during the 2008-09 season.
In 10 minutes vs. Alaska Anchorage in the Final Four Teresa Parker notched five rebounds and three blocks.
Mari Korton posted eight points and five rebounds vs. Fort Lewis in the NCAA Central Region Finals.
Lauren Barber finished second on the team in three pointers made with 40.
