2012-13 (Junior): Started in 31 games of 32 games played…Averaged 9.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game…Tallied two double doubles…Matched his career-high with 15 rebounds against Upper Iowa (2/15)…Posted a season-high 17 points against Sioux Falls (2/22) and Arkansas Tech (3/16)…Named to NSIC All-Tournament Team…Shot 114-of-205 (.556) from the field and 60-of-81 (.741) from the free throw line…Scored at least 10 points in 18 games.

2011-12 (Sophomore): Led MSU in rebounding (8.0) and was third in scoring (11.8)...His eight rebounds per game was also the second-best rebounding effort in the NSIC...Shot 46.9 percent from the floor and 72.3 percent from the free throw line and led MSU in blocks (45)...Had seven double-doubles last season and eight in his career, the most recent coming in a 12-point, 13-rebound effort at Concordia (2/11)...Scored a career-high 23 points in MSU's loss at St. Cloud  State (2/10) and hauled in a career-best 15 rebounds while establishing a career mark in assists with six in MSU's win over Dickinson State (11/13)...Finished seventh in single-season blocked shots with 45 and is tied for eighth on the all-time chart with 75...Played in 58 career games, earning 48 starts and is averaging 8.9 points and 6.6 rebounds during the span.

2010-11 (R-Freshman):  Recorded three double-doubles during his maiden season as a Maverick...Averaged 6.6 points and 5.5 rebounds as a redshirt freshman...Scored a season-high 15 points in MSU’s win at Bemidji State (1/21)...Hauled in a season-high 11 rebounds in MSU’s win over Eureka (11/27)...Blocked three or more shots on three different occasions.

2009-10: Redshirted  

High School: Named  First-Team All-Missota Conference this past season and was selected to play in the Minnesota State Basketball Coaches Association All-Star game...Averaged 18.9 points per game, while shooting 47.1 percent from the floor and 70.3 percent from the free throw line...Also hauled in 9.1 rebounds per game and tallied 2.0 blocks per game. 

Personal: Born Dec. 10, 1990...Son of Dan and Pam O’Brien...Intends to major in Sports Management...O’Brien’s father, Dan, was an All-NSIC selection as a member of the Minnesota State baseball team in 1976.
