WACO, Texas – Following a 28-14 victory at University of Sioux Falls on Saturday, the Minnesota State football team currently sits at fifth in the newest American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Top 25. The Mavericks remained third in the newest D2Football.com Top 25.
In the AFCA Poll, Ferris State remains the top team this week with a 4-0 record following a 73-6 win over NAIA foe Kentucky Christian. Ferris State garnered all 31 first-place votes and 775 points. Harding stopped a two-point conversion with 23 seconds remaining to escape with a 28-27 victory at Ouachita Baptist on Saturday remains second in this week's poll, while Kutztown downed Shepherd 28-18 remaining third.
CSU Pueblo jumped the Mavericks this week for fourth as CSUP won 35-23 over Colorado Mesa, a team MSU defeated 38-14 in the season-opener in August. CSUP garnered 654 points this week, while MSU had 649. Grand Valley State sits sixth, followed by Western Colorado, Slippery Rock, Indiana (Pa.) and Emporia State is tenth.
Both Augustana and Minnesota Duluth who were ranked suffered losses last week and now are among others receiving votes, along with both Wayne State and Northern State.
In the D2Football.com Top 25, Ferris State is first, followed by Harding, MSU, Kutztown and Grand Valley State rounds out the top five. CSU Pueblo is sixth, while Western Colorado is seventh, followed by Central Washington, Slippery Rock and Emporia State rounds out the top ten. Among teams in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, Minnesota Duluth fell to 19
th from 12
th, while Northern State reentered the poll at 25
th.

The Mavericks are the only undefeated team in the NSIC at 5-0 overall and 4-0 in league play. MSU returns home to host Concordia-St. Paul for Homecoming 2026 on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Blakeslee Stadium.
