Magers, Berkland and Yearsley Garner NCBWA All-Central Region Honors

MANKATO, Minn. --- Minnesota State's Louis Magers, Jake Berkland and Cole Yearsley have earned NCBWA All-Central Region honors for their efforts on the field this season.

Magers was named to the NCWBA All-Central Region First Team, while Berkland and Yearsley were named to the NCBWA All-Central Region Second Team. Magers will advance on to the NCBWA All-American ballot.

A senior from Mankato, Minn., Louis Magers has played and started in all 55 games for the Mavericks this season, splitting time as the first baseman, designated hitter and pitcher. Magers is batting .288 on the season and is tied for the team lead in home runs (16) and RBI (65). He has also scored 49 runs and is second on the team in doubles with 15. Earlier this season, Magers was named to the All-NSIC First Team.

A sophomore from Wayzata, Minn., Jake Berkland has played and started in all 55 games for the Mavericks this season, primarily at shortstop. Berkland is batting .364 on the season with a team-leading 72 hits. He set a team record for runs scored in a season this year with 82 and has recorded 11 doubles, 11 home runs and 47 RBI. He also leads the team in stolen bases with 22. Earlier this season, Berkland was named to the All-NSIC First Team.

A senior from Yorkville, Ill., Cole Yearsley has played in 53 games, including 49 starts, primarily in the outfield for the Mavericks. Yearsley is tied for the team lead in home runs (16) and RBI (65) and is batting .353 on the season. He ranks second on the team in runs scored with 57 and leads the team in walks with 36. Earlier this season, Yearsley was named to the All-NSIC First Team.

Minnesota State continues its season today against Missouri Southern in the NCAA Tournament. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at RCB Bank Sports Complex in Claremore, Okla.
