Mavericks Tee Off Tuesday at NCAA Championships

MANKATO, Minn. --- Behind its fourth place finish at the NCAA Central Region Championships, the Minnesota State women's golf team has advanced to the NCAA Championships in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

"This is an opportunity these ladies have striven for since they got to Minnesota State," head coach Alex Schmitz said. "Having three seniors being able to accomplish this feat reach the NCAA Championships is pretty special. We're going to remind them to enjoy the walk and remember that you have earned the right to be here at the championships."

The NCAA Championships: The NCAA Championships will be held at the Palm Beach Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. A total of 18 teams and eight individuals have advanced to the NCAA Championships. The 18 teams will compete in a 54-hole event, with the top-eight teams advancing on to match play where they will compete for an NCAA Championship.

The opening round on Tuesday will see the Mavericks paired with Anderson University (SC) and St. Mary's (Texas). MSU's tee times will begin at 10:20 a.m. (CST).

The Field: A total of 18 teams and two individuals from each region will compete at the NCAA Championships.

Mavericks at the NCAA Championships: This is the ninth time that Minnesota State has advanced to the NCAA Championships since 2000, and the first time since the 2010 season.

Woytassek: Junior Victoria Woytassek is one of three Mavericks to play in all 24 rounds during the 2025-26 season. She has finished in the top-20 in nine of MSU's 11 events this season, including five in the top-five. Woytassek finished first at the MSU/CSP Fall Brawl and took second place at both the SMSU Fall Invite and the SMSU Classic. At the NSIC Championships, she finished in 12th place (20), before leading the way for the Mavericks at the NCAA Central Region Championships on 11th place at +15. Woytassek was named the NSIC Golfer of the Week once time as well. This season, she has averaged a team-leading 76.6 strokes per round.

Youngquist: Senior Samantha Youngquist is one of three Mavericks to compete in all 24 rounds for the Mavericks this season. She has finished in the top-20 in seven of the Mavericks 11 events, including a fourth place finish at the SMSU Fall Invite (+8). At the NSIC Championships finished in 10th place at +18. Youngquist followed up the NSIC Championships with a 23rd place finish at the NCAA Central Region Championships as she finished at +20. This season she has averaged 77.9 strokes per round.

Garlie: Sophomore Emerson Garlie is one of three Mavericks to play in all 24 rounds for the Mavericks this season. She has finished in the top-20 in six events this season, including five in the top-five. Garlie won both the Jewell Invite and the SMSU Fall Invite and was named the NSIC Golfer of the Week twice. This spring she also posted fifth place finishes in both the Wildcat Classic (+7) and the NSIC Championships (+16), earning NSIC All-tournament Team honors in the process. At the NCAA Central Region Championships, Garlie finished in 20th place (+19). She is averaging 77.0 strokes per round this season.

Olson: Senior Ava Olson has competed in 20 of Minnesota State 24 rounds this season and is averaging 79.6 strokes per round. Olson has recorded two finishes in the top-20 this season, including a 12th place finish at the Wildcat Classic (+8) and an eighth place finish at the NSIC Championships (+17). At the NCAA Central Region Championships, Olson finished in 33rd place at +23.

Berge: Junior Emma Berge has played in 15 of Minnesota State's 24 rounds this season and is averaging 81.4 strokes per hole. She has recorded two finishes in the top-20 this season, including one in the top-10. At the SMSU Fall Invite, Berge took eighth place at +10, before finishing 17th at the USF Invitational at +20. At the NCAA Central Region Championships, Berge shot +30 to finish in 65th place.

Brown: Junior Lauren Brown has played in 13 of Minnesota State's 24 rounds this season and is averaging 80.8 strokes per round. At the NSIC Conference Preview, Brown finished in 13th place at +10. She followed up with a 21st place finish at the NSIC Championships with a +24.
