OWATONNA, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's tennis team defeated Winona State 6-1 in its regular season finale Saturday.
With the win, MSU improves to 10-3 on the season, including a 9-1 NSIC record. With the loss, WSU falls to 6-15, including a 3-7 conference record.
Behind its 9-1 NSIC record, the Mavericks have earned the #2 seed in the NSIC Tournament and a first-round bye. MSU will take on the winner of the dual between Bemidji State and Sioux Falls in the second round on Saturday, April 25, at the Heuther Tennis Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. The dual will begin at 4:30 p.m.
"Today's match was a really great way to end the regular season," head coach
Drew Hawthorne said. "Our team did a nice job of securing the doubles point and getting several singles victories."

Taina Cordeiro in singles," Hawthorne said. "They remained the ones dictating their points in their entire match."

"We have played much better doubles than we have in the past weekends in all three positions," Hawthorne said. "We've been working hard on it in practice, and it showed."
